Students who are deemed competent will receive RII50920 Diploma of Underground Coal Mining Management. This is recognised as a qualifying course for sitting the statutory exams for undermanager in both New South Wales and Queensland. The 12 units of competency in this course are nationally recognised. There are 9 core units plus at 3 electives to do to be awarded this qualification.

Course Overview
This qualification describes the skills and knowledge required by personnel who are planning their pathway to becoming a mine statutory official such as a mine undermanager. These persons assist in the management of an underground coal mine and perform tasks involving a high level of autonomy that require the application of significant judgement in planning and determining the selection of equipment/roles/techniques for themselves and others. They are required to demonstrate the application of a broad range of technical, managerial, coordination and planning and implement safety management plans.
